Joe’s High Holy Day Chanting

Since I was in high school I have spent most of my High Holy Days (Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur) leading services in various contexts. I was in my congregational choir and learned how to blow the Shofar and learned the Torah reading for all the services on those days. For many years I served as a “Kol Bo” (chanting all the services and performing all the rituals) in a congregation in Timrat in the lower Galilee. In recent years I’ve served these functions in kibbutzim, mostly in the south of Israel.
